International exhibition of contemporary art

25–28 January 2013

Bologna Exhibition Center

A “new ARTE FIERA” to further strengthen the national and international leadership of the largest Italian fair devoted to modern and contemporary art. A strategy that begins with the appointment of two new artistic directors for the exhibition, Italian art experts Giorgio Verzotti for contemporary art and Giorgio Verzotti for modern art.

ARTE FIERA 2013, International exhibition of contemporary art, will offer a complete panorama of artwork thanks to the presence of distinguished modern and contemporary art galleries and to the creation of even stronger synergy with Bologna and its cultural institutions.

ARTE FIERA 2013 Events

ARTE FIERA Conversations – The 2013 edition will host Arte Fiera Conversations, panels, talks and debates all gathering in two new frames. Talks of “In the Spotlight” will be focused on personalities speaking about their direct or professional art-related experience. Those of “Looking forward” will have the purpose to present peculiar patterns for artistic and cultural expression.

Italian Stories Exhibition – Curated by Laura Cherubini and Lea Mattarella
The exhibition features around eighty selected works by artists represented by the galleries participating in Arte Fiera 2013. It spans the twentieth century through the younger generations, concentrating not just on the most important characteristics of Italian art but also on the way in which our country’s culture has served as a stimulus and source of inspiration for artists outside Italy. It is a story in images of the way we are, the way we see ourselves and the way others see us.

A New Section: SOLO SHOW – Among the announced initiatives, supplementing the sections devoted to modern and contemporary art, is the new SOLO SHOW section for galleries that intend to present exhibits focusing exclusively on the works of a single artist. The artists who take part in this new ARTE FIERA initiative will be selected by the Artistic Committee from among the proposals submitted by exhibiting galleries.

Award Euromobil Under 30 – The seventh edition of the Euromobil Group Award is addressed to the under 30 Italian and foreign artists whose works are exhibited at Arte Fiera 2013. The Award will be assigned by a jury of experts and critics. The prize will be presented during Arte Fiera on Saturday, January 26th at 16.00 at the Euromobil Group Space “I luoghi dell’arte, i luoghi del design.” The winner will be invited to “interact” with the Collectons of Euromobil Group, main sponsor of Arte Fiera.

ART CITY Bologna 2013
Museums, exhibitions, events in town – ART CITY Bologna represents the programme of exhibitions and institutional initiatives proposed, on the occasion of Arte Fiera, through museums and public places in town. Giorgio De Chirico at the Archeological Museum, Marino Marini at the Archiginnasio Library, Bas Jan Ader at Villa delle Rose give you a small anticipation on the over twenty exhibitions that will be a further chance to discover Bologna.

Art White Night – Saturday January 26th, night will come alive and enlighten the Bologna city centre during the Arte Fiera’s White Night. An extraordinary event that will involve museums, exhibitions, art galleries and shops open to public until midnight and many other initiatives all over the town.

Video robots and musical light bulbs from Hong Kong

Last year Germany was the largest European importer of electronic goods from Hong Kong, with a value of 4.44 billion US dollars, and is the sixth largest market in the world for these products. A total of 41 companies are represented this year at IFA 2012, 24 of them under the auspices of the Hong Kong Trade Development Council . A variety of products are on display, including the prototype of a miniature robot from iReach Technology , whose built-in video camera with zoom and night viewing capability can transmit images to the screen of the cordless remote control unit and store them on an SD card. Introduced two years ago, the “Singing Bulb” is now in regular production. It is being exhibited by Sensor Industries and consists of an LED lamp with a conventional E-27 screw fitting and built-in loudspeaker, which is supplied with a signal by a mini-transmitter connected to a smartphone or music player.
LG with OLED and the largest 4K televisions

The display by LG at this year’s IFA offers some fascinating technology. One of the main exhibits is the 55 inch OLED television, which is due to be launched onto the market this year at a cost of less than 10,000 euros. The technology is based on WOLED s, i.e. white OLEDs, generating brightness by using four identical, white, organic light diodes. The colour is produced by a filter known as the Colour Refiner.t passive 3D. It is also possible to screen two programmes simultan-eously.

US analyst sees IFA as the world’s leading electronics trade show

Image

Image

Berlin (dapd). According to US blogger and analyst Michael Gartenberg, when IFA opens on Friday the big-name manufacturers and retailers from the US and Asia will also be in Berlin. “IFA gives the US market a good indication of what will soon be on the market here”, said Gartenberg in an interview with dapd. IFA already sets the pace worldwide and lays down the topics for other shows such as CES in January in Las Vegas.

“Nowadays a press release from Berlin is picked up and discussed immediately in the US”, said Gartenberg, commenting on the growing attention that IFA commands. Gartenberg is an IT industry observer for market analysts Gartner. IFA’s importance will continue to grow: “We have not yet reached the point where trade shows such as IFA are becoming less important or irrelevant”, said Gartenberg.

CES, its competitor, is still more important in North America. However, globally speaking “IFA’s influence is big, in the US as well as in South America and Asia”. According to Gartenberg IFA’s success has less to do with its timing, shortly before Christmas trading begins, but more to do with Berlin: the show benefits from the city and its location at the heart of Europe. What is more the exhibition grounds are bigger than in Las Vegas, allowing IFA to display an even wider range of products.

Gartenberg sees no signs of the industry’s major players shunning electronics trade shows. The decision whether to exhibit or not depends on each individual company’s situation. Apple is a special case anyway: “They know that everybody will be talking about them even if they are not exhibiting at IFA “, said Gartenberg.

Google Joins Global Innovators at CommunicAsia2012

SINGAPORE, 29 MAY 2012 – Industry giant Google, is set to join a host of industry experts and thought leaders at the Marina Bay Sands next month for the leading global event in converging broadcast and telecommunications. CommunicAsia2012 organisers have announced that Ms. Aliza Knox, Managing Director of Commerce for Google Asia Pacific, will deliver the Visionary Address on Wednesday 20 June, at the CommunicAsia2012 Summit, focusing on how ‘Asia defines the Internet’ by following the trajectory of the smartphone across Asia and how it can lead to a better understanding of the region’s current and future growth.

Until recently mobile-internet innovations in one Asian country had little impact on its immediate neighbours, which effectively meant the region was growing apart. Now that’s changing and Asia is growing together. Ms. Knox, who joined Google in 2007, has been responsible for creating a major brand presence in Singapore and for driving the company’s strategy and growth across APAC.
Ms. Knox comments, “CommunicAsia2012 Summit is an exciting space to discuss the latest technological developments taking place in the Asia Pacific region. It is my great pleasure to present the Visionary Address at this international platform. I am excited to share my views on these developments, especially of the smartphone, with fellow colleagues from the industry, and how technology has changed and enabled businesses in Asia to grow.”
Delegates at the CommunicAsia2012 Summit can look forward to over 170 conference sessions, workshops, and panel discussions that will foster dialogue among industry and government leaders, and provide executive insights and analysis on the exciting ICT developments across the globe.
A wide range of topics from cloud computing to mobile marketing will be presented by prominent speakers such as Mr. Simone Brunozzi, Technology Evangelist, Asia Pacific, Amazon Web Services; Mr. Dan Scoffer, Vice President, Marketing and Business Development, VeriFone; Mr. Vivek Jhamb, Senior Vice-President, Vodafone Global Enterprise, India; Mr. Christian Geissendoerfer, CEO of Yoose; Mr. Wayne Purboo, President, CEO & Co-Founder, QuickPlay Media; Mr. Rodrigo Donazzolo, Head of IP Interoperability, BT Global Telecom Markets Asia Pacific, and many more.

Mobile technology will be a key focus at the CommunicAsia2012 Summit and will feature dedicated workshops on mobile marketing strategies and mobile security. Other tracks include next-generation broadband, satellite communications, cloud computing, over the top technologies (OTT), customer experience management and augmented reality strategies.
“As mobile technologies transform the ICT landscape and revolutionise business models and marketing approaches, understanding this small but powerful device is vital to manoeuvring through the future ICT landscape. CommunicAsia2012 Summit brings together industry thought leaders, government ministries and international industry associations to generate in-depth discussion and knowledge sharing of strategies and solutions,” says Ms. Lindy Wee, Director of PR and Conferences from event organiser, Singapore Exhibition Services (SES).
Delegates at the Summit can also experience these technologies first hand at the exhibition hall, where more than 200 debut exhibitors will be located. These exhibitors will be sharing their expertise and showcasing their newest and latest products and solutions at CommunicAsia2012.
