The University of Laguna, through its Vice-Presidency for University and Society Relations and with the purpose of promoting photographic creativity, announces the 2012 edition of the Rafael Ramos García International Photography Prize.
Prizes will be given to the best photographic series and best individual photograph submitted to the competition. The intent is to promote the art of photography among the university community and society in general.
The call is open to photographers of any nationality submitting one or more photographs or photographic series. Family members, professional associates, and close friends of administrative and service staff or of political functionaries of the Vice-Presidency for University and Society Relations of the University of Laguna, or of any of the jurors, are excluded from participating.
Works accepted to the competition will be photographic, in color or black and white, attached to a rigid backing measuring 40 X 50 cm maximum. Series will comprise four photographs representing a thematic unit. Works presented simultaneously to other competitions, awarded other prizes, or with their copyright committed to any third party will not be accepted.
Artists can submit up to three entries in a closed envelope, identifying the category (individual or series) and the title for each. Inside the envelope, each entry must include a CD or DVD, labeled with the title of the photograph or series and the category to which it is submitted, containing each photograph in two separate jpeg files: high and low resolution. If selected, these images will be used in the catalog and promotional activities. The files must be labeled with the title of the photograph or series. Also required: a completed entry form, following the attached model; artist’s CV; photocopy of DNI (Spanish citizens), NIE (foreign residents), or national identity document.
Each individual photograph or series must be presented in a separate envelope with all these requirements and documentation; if an artist is submitting two photographs, two envelopes must be sent with all the documents and requirements. The same applies to series submissions. Each jpeg file must be named with the title of the photograph or series, and if each photograph in a series has a separate title, it must be added to the name. If the individual photographs in the series are not titled, they must be numbered 1 to 4.
The deadline for submissions runs through June 29th, 2012. Works can be submitted to:
